The WTA Tour returns to Cluj-Napoca for the 2022 Transylvania Open from October 10 to October 16 after the event's success the previous year.

Simona Halep and Anett Kontaveit, the finalists from the previous year, won't be playing this time around. Romanian supporters will definitely be unhappy by the loss of their best player, who prematurely terminated her season. The 2021 US Open winner Emma Raducanu, who is of Romanian descent, was expected to compete at the 2022 Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca, however owing to an injury, she withdrew as well.

It seemed that Barbora Krejcikova will be the first-seeded in Romania, but after beating Iga Swiatek in the 2022 Ostrava Open, the Czech player also withdrew from the event and so there is a big chance for lower-ranked players to earn nice share of prize money and points as the highest-ranked player competing is world no. 45 Anhelina Kalinina.

The champion of the 2022 Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca gets 280 points and $33,200, reward that would make even the highest-seeded Ukrainian jump by 10 places in the WTA Rankings. Eugenie Bouchard is coming back to tennis courts and she will compete in Romania too.

The Canadian will get at least one point and $2,725 for competing in the first round as the points reward for reaching the second round increases massively. All players in the second round get 30 points and $3,800 and quarterfinalists earn $6,200 and 60 points. You can check full prize money and points overview below.
