During the first-round match between Lin Zhu and Rebecca Marino at the 2023 Australian Open, the focus shifted away from the action on the court and onto a fan who allegedly stole one of the towels.

Marino, who was defeated by Zhu in straight sets, noticed a fan taking her towel as she was shaking the umpire's hand. She immediately reported the incident to the umpire, James Keothavong. Keothavong, who was on the lookout for the fan, quickly went into action and started chasing the person.

The incident was caught on camera and quickly went viral on social media. In the footage, Keothavong can be seen running through the stands in pursuit of the alleged thief.

Regardless of the outcome, this incident serves as a reminder that even at a high-stakes event like the Australian Open, the actions of a few individuals can have a significant impact on the overall experience for players and fans alike. It is important for everyone to be mindful of their actions and treat the tournament and its players with the respect they deserve.
