Novak Djokovic witnessed the retirement of Roger Federer and he enjoyed what he saw finding inspiration in some things.

Even though Novak Djokovic is still at the peak of his game and has a long way to go before retiring, he is not immune to the consequences of time. Eventually, Djokovic will retire, and when that day comes, he wants his fiercest competitors to be present.

“When I was on the court as well seeing his kids and his family, it got me emotional," admitted Djokovic explaining that it got him thinking about his own retirement:

"And also I must say I was thinking how it will look for me when I say goodbye. There is definitely one thing I would wish is that other than having my family and the people closest to me in my life there, I would love to have my biggest rivals there because it was something special and added importance to that moment.”

In Djokovic's words, Roger Federer's career has been an epic one and he has had a front-row seat to some of the epic moments the Swiss created: “It has been an epic career. He has left a legacy and mark that will be eternal. Roger transcended sport. He is one of the most recognised athletes of all time."
