Marin Cilic is in Tel Aviv for the Tel Aviv Open and the Croatian responded to a question about his retiremnet hoping it's far away.

Cilic's career has been extremely successful, perhaps more so than he or anybody else could have imagined, but it only materialized as a consequence of years of hard work. It also results from a remarkable passion for tennis that is there even now.

"I love tennis, my wife is always laughing at me, cuz’ I also watch tennis on TV every day. I love competing and everything that comes with tennis." admitted Cilic to reporters in Israel adding that he'll hope to stay as a player for many more years: "I’ll be involved in this game even after I retire. I’d also be more dedicated to my family, I have two boys now. But I will be in tennis, maybe coaching at an academy. Hopefully, it won’t happen no earlier than 4-5 years from now.”

One player that did retire was Roger Federer and it's something that has left Cilic said. They shared some epic battles on the court and the Croatian defeated Federer in the US Open semi-finals the year that he won the event.

“It’s a sad moment for tennis, sad for all the fans around the world. Roger was such an icon, he carried tennis to incredible heights. I felt nervous even watching his match, I wondered if it was gonna be more of an exhibition, but they held match-point. Would’ve been great if they could win, but still it was a very emotional moment. We’re gonna miss Roger so much.”
