Carlos Alcaraz recently climbed to the top of world tennis by winning the US Open and getting to the number one spot on the rankings.
It was a crowning moment for the Spaniard who has had an extremely strong year so far winning multiple trophies. The US Open was his defining moment as it made him the youngest player to ever climb the number one spot.
However the job is not done yet, he has lofty goals for the remainder of the season as well:
“One of my goals is to finish [the year] as No. 1. Now that I’ve got there, my goal is to stay as many days, weeks and months as possible. We’re going to work for that.”
Doing that will be tough but the Spaniard is not too worried about it opting to take it one event at a time. He'll play a few of them to prepare for the season's finish.
“I have several tournaments before the [Nitto] ATP Finals and we’re going to give it our all. I have several important tournaments and one goal is to try and win the [Nitto] ATP Finals.” explained Alcaraz aho admitted he will squeeze in a small break as well:
“I want to take a few days to not think about tennis, just enjoy being with my people, my friends and my family. Right now, I want to try and be a normal guy and be with my friends, which is what I feel like doing most.”
