Carlos Alcaraz thrashed Argentine Facundo Bagnis to secure the Umag Open semifinal coming one step closer to a title defence.

Carlos Alcaraz is playing with a purpose this week clearly bothered by the way his Hamburg Open campaign ended. The Spaniard entered that event supremely confident of winning it however Lorenzo Musetti spoiled those plans in the finals. This week, Alcaraz toned down the confidence admitting moments of doubt in the season in an effort to lessen the pressure.

It seems to be working as he's playing really strong tennis overall easily beating his opponent. The latest victim was Facundo Bagnis who was left powerless in the matchup against the Spaniard who was blasting winners left and right. The first set was, well it was very impressive from Alcaraz, and it was a bagel 6-0.

The 2nd set featured a lot more battling because Bagnis was able to raise his level a little bit and let loose which worked in his favour. Alcaraz was not as sharp as in the opening set but he did enough to take an early break. From there he played at a lower intensity but still good enough to secure the straight sets win. Up next for him is Giulio Zeppieri, another talented youngster.
