The 2022 Croatia Open in Umag returns with an improved field this year running from July 25th till July 31st.
The event continues the European Clay season which will end after this event and Kitzbuhel and it will feature some of the tour's best clay performers. As always, the event draws a good crowd of players that don't hate sparing on the red surface. The list of champions clearly features a lot of players that love playing on clay such as Cuevas, Thiem, Fognini, Cecchinato, Lajovic and Carlos Alcaraz who won last year.
The Spaniard will forever carry Umag in his heart because he won his maiden trophy here and since then he's emerged as one of the Tour's best performers. Should Alcaraz do it again he'll get €81,310 and 250 points. The losing player in the final will get €47,430 and 150 points. Semi-finalists will get €27,885 and 90 points with the quarterfinals giving €16,160 and 45 points.
Some of the challengers to Alcaraz's title defence are Jannik Sinner who beat him at Wimbledon, Holger Rune, an excellent clay player and noted clay specialists Sebastian Baez, Francisco Cerundolo and Alex Molcan.
