Running from February 12th to 18th, the 2024 Argentina Open is already stacked with an impressive entry list, and the tournament has prize money to match.
The entry list is led by World No. 2 and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, who was the first confirmed player to sign up for the 2024 edition of the tournament, held in Argentina's capital city, Buenos Aires.
Alcaraz will attempt to emulate compatriot David Ferrer, who is the last man to defend this ATP 250. The 20-year-old has plenty of challengers in his path, one of whom is the second seed Nicolas Jarry, who came mighty close to defeating him on the clay courts of Rio last season.
Cameron Norrie, who lost last year's final to Alcaraz, is also a regular on the South American and will certainly be the conditions. A handful of home players will feature, including Francisco Cerundolo, Sebastian Baez, Diego Schwartzman, and Pedro Cachin.
This year's prize money stands at $642,615, which is nearly a 3% increase from last year's purse. This marginal increase will be evident in all rounds, starting with those who exit the tournament in the first round. Those players will pocket $6,890 but won't receive any ranking points.
Second-rounders will earn $11,280, which will be bundled with 25 ranking points. Reaching the quarterfinal stage is no mean feat, and those who are fortunate enough to do so will receive $19,425 along with 50 points.
Those who make it to the deep end stand to be rewarded generously. Semifinalists will receive a paycheck amounting to $33,520, together with 100 points. The champion, however, is the biggest earner, taking home a whopping $97,745 for a week's work in addition to 250 ranking points.
As for the beaten finalist, he'll not leave Buenos Aires empty-handed. That player will receive $57,015 in prize money to console himself and 165 points. Be sure to check the full breakdown of the 2024 Argentina Open below.
