Carlos Alcaraz Signs Up To Defend His Title At 2024 Argentina Open

Carlos Alcaraz began his 2023 tennis season in Buenos Aires winning a trophy and he'll return there in 2024.

Alcaraz missed the beginning of the 2023 season including the Australian Open due to an injury that forced him to miss the ATP Finals the previous year. The Spaniard took a while to fully recover from that abdominal injury sustained at the Paris Masters as the injury kept him away from play in the next season as well.

The return happened on South American clay in Buenos Aires at the Argentina Open. It was a solid event for Alcaraz as he ended up as the champion of it and he'll be making a return there in 2024 to defend the trophy.

The announcement came a week after Alcaraz was beaten by Novak Djokovic in the Roland Garros semi-final which ended his dream of winning his 2nd Grand Slam trophy. In the video posted by the Argentina Open Twitter page, Alcaraz is seen confirming his participation at the event in February of next year.

"Hello, Argentina. How are you? How are you doing? I wanted to announce that I will be playing in the Argentina Open again in February 2024. The truth is, last year I had a great week there with all of you, and I hope to see you again next year. A big hug."

Also in 2024, the Spaniard will be the biggest favourite to win on the Argentinian clay, and maybe the ATP tournament in Buenos Aires will become one of the events to which he returns every season.

Already during his young career, the 20-year-old has a couple of tournaments like that, as he managed to win back-to-back titles in Barcelona and Madrid in two consecutive season, eyeing the treble in 2024.
