Carlos Alcaraz will make his return to tennis in Argentina at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires which runs from February 11th to 19th.
The start of the 2023 season has been quite unusual for the 19-year-old Spaniard. He was forced to withdraw from the 2023 Australian Open, and until recently, it wasn't clear when he would return to the tennis court.
Now, it's clear that Alcaraz will start on the clay courts, as his first tournament back should be the 2023 Argentina Open in Buenos Aires, running from February 11th to 19th, 2023.
Last year, Alcaraz won the Rio Open in South America, and he'll be back on the continent this year. Prior to his return to the Brazilian capital, Alcaraz will fly to Buenos Aires, where he will compete in the tournament for the first time.
The ATP number one ranked player will play in Argentina. The 19-year-old Spaniard will take part in our tournament for the first time.
Alcaraz, who is forced to spend some time away from the tennis courts right now, announced his participation through a short video, in which he says that he'll compete in Buenos Aires.
"Hello everyone. Carlitos Alcaraz here. I wanted to inform you that I am going to play the Argentina Open. The truth is that you are very excited to be able to go to Argentina to play there, so I hope to see you all there, and we will see you very soon."
Last year, Casper Ruud, who the Spaniard bested in the US Open final in 2022, won the Argentina Open, when he defeated home player Diego Schwartzman in the final of the tournament. This year, the biggest favourite will be Alcaraz, who will make his debut at the tournament in the Argentinian capital.
