Novak Djokovic is guaranteed to stand out at the 2025
US Open after the colors he will wear in New York were revealed.
Djokovic's most recent appearance was at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, losing to Jannik Sinner in the semifinal. At SW19, players are more limited with what they can do with kits because the tournament has an all-white dress code.
By contrast, a variety of outfits are seen at other Grand Slams. Many have several colors on their kits to take advantage of the freedom to express themselves in front of a large global audience.
However, sometimes keeping the kit simple and using two colors works perfectly. Djokovic proved that by revealing the colors Asics has designed for him to use at the US Open, which starts on August 24th.
Below is a brief video of Djokovic debuting the outfit. It starts with the former
ATP world No. 1 having his back to the camera and the black and gold shoe he will use hanging on his shoulder.
Djokovic then turns 90 degrees to the camera to reveal more of the jacket he is wearing. It has the same black and gold color scheme as the shoes and completes a superbly stylish look.
The Serbian usually chooses bright colors for Grand Slams outside Wimbledon. This change of pace for the final major of the season is different, but it suits him. Fans on social media received the look very well.
Djokovic hopes the new kit and any other factors can inspire him at Flushing Meadows. His third-round defeat last year to Alexei Popyrin was surprising, but a drop in his level a few weeks after winning the Olympic Gold Medal was also understandable.
The tennis legend's last Grand Slam title was the 2023 US Open, when he beat Daniil Medvedev in the final. That triumph tied him with Margaret Court for the most major singles titles won in tennis history, with 24.
If Djokovic does not emerge victorious at the 2025 US Open, it will have been two years without a Grand Slam. For the most statistically successful tennis player in tennis history, that is a notable drought.
At the same time, Djokovic has done well to keep competing near the top at 38 years old, reaching the semifinals of all three Grand Slams in 2025. He lost in straight sets to Jannik Sinner at the French Open before Wimbledon a few weeks later.
Despite those defeats and his age, Djokovic does not intend to retire in the near future and
hopes to return to Wimbledon next year. The Serbian previously spoke about the possibility of playing at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, who contested the French Open and Wimbledon finals, have been the two top players since the start of 2024. They have split the last seven Grand Slams during that time.
After Sinner won this year's Wimbledon title, his co-coach Darren Cahill revealed that the Italian
watches Alcaraz play more than any other player because he wants to find areas for improvement.
