Pedro Cachin was born in Bell Ville, Argentina, on April 12, 1995, to his parents, Pedro Pablo and Graciela. At age five, Cachin started playing tennis. Until the age of 12, he played tennis and football, but eventually pursued a tennis career.
Early in his career, Cachin competed at Argentinian Futures events and made four finals between 2013 and 2014. However, mid-way through 2014, aged just 19, Cachin decided to relocate to Barcelona, Spain. Here, he worked with former world number two Alex Corretja, who Cachin credits for taking his game to the next level.
In Spain, Cachin won his first Futures titles in Siena and Denia. Following this success, Cachin showed glimpses of quality in the 2015 season. Here, he made the Wimbledon qualifying rounds but lost in round one to Jimmy Wang. The Argentinian then won his first-ever Challenger title at the Copa Sevilla, defeating Pablo Carreno Busta in the final.
Cachin made his ATP Tour debut at the 2016 Barcelona Open after navigating qualifying. However, he was eliminated in round one by Ivan Dodig. Generally, he continued to play at Futures level between 2017 and 2018 reaching nine finals, winning four.
By 2019, Cachin was ranked inside the ATP’s Top 250 and started to enter Grand Slam qualifying regularly. He attempted to reach the main draws at the Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open but was knocked out in round one at each event.
Despite the setbacks, Cachin continued to develop on the ATP Tour and won three titles at this level in 2021. He also claimed his second Challenger title at the 2021 Open de Oeiras. After a two-year hiatus from Grand Slams, Cachin tried again in 2022 with greater success.
At the 2022 Roland Garros, the Argentinian made his major debut as a lucky loser and he made it to round two. Then, Cachin gained direct entry to his first-ever US Open and progressed to the second round. 2022 was also a strong year at the Challenger level, as Cachin made seven finals and won four more titles.
After a breakthrough campaign in 2022, Cachin went from strength to strength in 2023. The Argentinian reached the main draws at all four Grand Slams for the first time in his career. He also made it to the second round of the French Open for a second consecutive season.
Cachin had success at the Masters competitions too. On his Indian Wells debut, Cachin reached round two and he progressed to round four at the Madrid Open. In July, the Argentinian lifted his first-ever ATP title at the Swiss Open, defeating Albert Ramos Vinolas.
