The 2025 Canadian Open will be played from July 27th to August 7th, and the prize money and ranking points for the 1000-level tournament have been revealed.
Although ATP and WTA players compete during the same period, the Canadian Open is unique in that the men and women are in different locations. This year, ATP players will be in Toronto, while the women are in Montreal.
Alexei Popyrin had an unexpected run to last year's men's singles title. The Australian overcame Andrey Rublev in the final to confirm one of the most surprising moments of the 2024 season.
Jessica Pegula retained her women's singles title by defeating Amanda Anisimova in the final. The world No. 3 played superbly in the final set to see off the brave challenge from her compatriot.
Carlos Alcaraz, who has never won the Canadian Open, is one of the players who withdrew from this tournament, and he is absent from this year's entry list. He also missed the 2024 men's singles in Montreal because he wanted to rest after reaching the gold medal match at the 2024 Olympics.
Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek are on the WTA entry list. They have never claimed the title in Canada and hope to change that by performing strongly at this year's iteration.
Some Masters 1000 tournaments, such as the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open, award equal prize money to ATP and WTA players. However, the men receive a higher share of the overall prize money pot.
The men's singles champion at the 2025 Canadian Open will be given $1,124,380 and 1,000 ranking points. More than $1 million being handed to the winner should be a significant motivation for the ATP players to fight for the title.
Although the financial rewards are lower for the women, this year's champion will still receive $752,275 and 1,000 points. That is a substantial amount for one tournament, even a significant one like the Canadian Open.
The men's runner-up is guaranteed to collect $597,890 and 650 points, while the female runner-up in Toronto's reward will be $391,600 and 650 points. The ranking points for ATP and WTA players begin to differ from the semifinals.
While the two defeated men's semifinalists will receive 400 ranking points, the women get a slightly lower number of 390 points. The ATP stars will get a higher $332,160 in comparison to the $206,100 for the women.
Getting to the quarterfinal would also be good enough to attain a solid amount in prize money and rankings. The men will collect 200 points and $189,075, while the women will receive $107,000 in prize money and 215 points.
For the rounds of 16 and 32, ATP stars will earn $103,225 or $60,400, and 100 or 50 points. For the same rounds, WTA players are set to receive $56,703 or $33,000 and 120 or 65 ranking points.
ATP players who lose in the opening two rounds will collect either 30 or 10 points and $35,260 or $23,760. The women competing in Toronto are guaranteed to get either 35 or 10 points and $19,705 or $12,770.
