The Tata Open in Pune is one of the events that is held early in the ATP calendar and in 2023 it will be even earlier as it's one of a few tournaments held before the first Grand Slam of the season.

The 2023 Tata Open in Pune will be held from January 2 to 8 as an ATP 250 event with entry list full of players looking to get some match practice before the first major. Last year's champion, Joao Sousa won't defend his title but finalist Emil Ruusuvuori will travel to India to defend his points.

The highest-seeded player at the event should be Marin Cilic, who played semifinals last year in Adelaide and will want to defend his points from there in Pune. He will face a fierce competition from players like Botic van de Zandschulp, Sebastian Baez and Jenson Brooksby as those will want to start their season with a good result.

But there will be many more interesting names travelling to India in January. Alex Molcan, who is coached by former coach of Novak Djokovic, but also Filip Krajinovic, Jaume Munar and Aslan Karatsev are players capable of making a strong result at events like this.
