Jenson Brooksby is an American professional tennis player who was born on October 26, 2000, in Sacramento, United States. After spending his childhood on the courts, going to college to continue the sport he loved was the only option for the youngster, and he ended up playing at Baylor University.
The late 2010s offered the American some unbeatable experiences on tour, with him winning the main U18 Boys' tournament in his home country, which earned him a spot in the main draw at that year’s US Open. Despite losing in the first round, this would set his hunger alive for more chances at that level.
The following year, he successfully got through the qualifying rounds to set up a first-round match-up with seasoned pro, Tomas Berdych. He overcame the Czech, gaining his first-ever win at Grand Slam level as well as a spot in the second round.
After a COVID-19-cut-short 2020, the following season would offer him opportunities to build on what he had already achieved. 2021 saw him reach his first ATP final at the Newport Open, where he ultimately fell to experienced South African Kevin Anderson.
He then almost repeated this feat just a few weeks later, when he got to the semifinal of the Citi Open in Washington, getting one back against Anderson as well as beating players such as Frances Tiafoe and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Before he knew it, he was making a habit of going deeper at the big ATP tournaments, and this was the form that skyrocketed him to his career-best ranking of world number 33.
The one feat that did happen to still evade him was that elusive first ATP title. However, all his hard work and solid form came crumbling down just a year later when the American was handed an 18-month ban for missing three consecutive routine doping tests.
