The
draw for the 2025
Queen's Club Championships has been released, and it includes the reigning two-time Wimbledon champion,
Carlos Alcaraz.
Alcaraz will make his return to the tennis courts in London, but it won't be at the Wimbledon Championships, but two weeks before the start of the grass-court Grand Slam. The Spaniard will compete at the Queen's Club Championships.
Alcaraz won the tournament in 2023, and he will attempt to add yet another triumph this year, even though
his participation was in doubt. However, his first opponent won't be an easy one, as he will have to take on his compatriot
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
The winner of this match will then face another challenging matchup in the second round.
Jordan Thompson is one of the players who thrive on grass courts, and the Australian will be the favorite to make it to the second round, as his first opponent will be clay-court specialist
Jaume Munar.
Alcaraz's possible quarter-final opponent is the sixth-seeded
Ben Shelton, who will start against one of the qualifiers. The American can then meet fellow compatriot
Reilly Opelka in the first round. That match will happen if Shelton passes his test and Opelka beats Camilo Ugo Carabelli.
On the opposite side of the draw is a player who will be cheered on by the British crowd.
Jack Draper is the second seed, and he will be attempting to become the first Brit to win a title at the Queen's Club since Andy Murray in 2016.
Draper's first-round opponent will be
Jenson Brooksby, who used his protected ranking to enter the tournament. The winner of this match will then play against
Alexei Popyrin or a qualifier in the second round of the tournament.
Taylor Fritz will be the third seed in London, and he will arrive quite tired. The American player made it to the final in Stuttgart, and he will have a short turnaround from Germany to United Kingdom.
Luckily for Fritz, he will play against one of the qualifiers in the first round, but his second-round opponent could be another home player, Jacob Fearnley.
Holger Rune is one of the seeded players at the Queen's Club Championships as well. The Danish youngster is the fourth seed, and he will be challenged by
Matteo Arnaldi in the first round. The winner of this match between two young players will then take on one of the veterans, as
Grigor Dimitrov and
Gael Monfils will meet in the first round.
