Like many successful tennis players, Taylor Harry Fritz also comes from a tennis family. Born on October 28th, 1997, in Rancho Santa Fe, California, in the United States, Fritz was always destined to succeed on the tennis court as a son of Kathy May, a former Top 10 player on the WTA Tour, and Guy Henry Fritz, who also used to be a tennis player.
Growing up during a successful era of the likes of Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, but also Andy Roddick, Fritz knew what tennis success meant in the United States, and he wanted to be one of the guys who would extend the successful years for the American tennis.
Already in his junior career, Fritz excelled on the tennis court, winning the 2015 US Open Boys' title, and losing in the final of the Roland Garros Boys' event in the same year. As a result, he finished the year as the highest-ranked junior player and was named the 2015 ITF Junior World Champion, the first American since Donald Young in 2005 and Andy Roddick in 2000.
In 2015, Fritz also made his professional debut at the 2015 Nottingham Open, beating Pablo Carreno Busta in his first match. But in his early years on the ATP Tour, the American didn't have much success; when his best result until 2020 was the third round at the US Open.
But after that, Fritz experienced a major breakthrough, winning the Indian Wells Masters in 2022 and reaching the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon and US Open, as well as playing the ATP Finals. In 2023, Fritz broke into the Top 5 of the ATP Rankings.
