There’s nothing better for a tennis player than to earn free
points during a high-stakes match on the
ATP Tour, and there’s really only one
way to do it—hit aces.
An ace does win you a point in a flash, but it’s not for free,
technically. Players need to couple lightning speed and surgical precision with
their swinging arm to send the ball past a returner, who is ready to pounce on
anything loose.
Not everyone can produce such quality on a consistent basis, but some who do it for fun, maximising their potential, combined with physical gifts.
Let’s check out the top five players who fired the
most aces
down their opponents’ court this season.
5. Alexander Bublik
Alexander Bublik hit 674 aces in the 58 matches he played on
the ATP Tour this season to become the fifth-best player in terms of ace
hitting.
The 6’5” tall Bublik averaged roughly 11 aces per match. He
won four titles this year at the Halle Open, Gstaad Open, Generali Open, and
Hangzhou Open, making this season his career's most successful thus far.
4. Jakub Mensik
Jakub Mensik edged out Bublik by hitting 679 aces to rank
fourth on the list. He, however, played eight fewer matches than the Kazakhstani.
Mensik, who is 6’5” too, enjoyed a memorable season this
year. He
defeated his idol, Novak Djokovic, in Miami to win his maiden Masters 1000 trophy. He reached his peak ranking of World No. 16 earlier in August.
3. Felix Auger-Aliassime
Felix Auger-Aliassime, the 6’4” tall champion from Canada,
produced 783 aces in 74 matches to claim the third spot in the tally. His
average comes to roughly 10 aces per match.
Auger-Aliassime took home three trophies with his efforts in Adelaide,
Montpellier and Brussels. He also climbed up to a career-high ranking of World
No. 5. He played a second Grand Slam semifinal of his career at the US Open.
2. Reilly Opelka
Towering
Reilly Opelka comes in second on the list of players
hitting the most aces in 2025. He hit 790 aces in 49 appearances on the ATP
Tour.
Among the top five, the 6’11” American averaged the highest,
recording roughly 16 aces per match. He ended the previous season ranked 293 in
the world but finished this year as the World No. 50. He appeared in all four Majors for the first time since 2021.
1. Taylor Fritz
Taylor Fritz, another 6’5” ATP star, trumped everyone, hitting
867 aces in 74 outings, to take the pole position. On average, he generated nearly
12 aces in every match he played on the tour.
Fritz won two titles in the season. He triumphed at the Boss
Open and Eastbourne International to take his overall tally of silverware to
10. Also, he made the semifinals at Wimbledon and quarterfinals at the US Open.
