Simona Halep is still unstoppable at the 2022 Wimbledon as she defeated Amanda Anisimova in the quarterfinals.

Before the 2022 Wimbledon, Simona Halep prepared in Bad Homburg and she won all three matches she played there before pulling out of the tournament. On her way to the semifinals in Germany, she defeated also Amanda Anisimova and the American was her quarterfinal opponent also in the All England Club.

In Bad Homburg it was a 6-2, 6-1 victory for the experienced Romanian and for a very long time it seemed that she will achieve the same result also on the Centre Court at the Wimbledon.

In the first set, both players struggled to find their top game as fans saw a total of 8 winners and 17 unforced errors from both players combined. However, Anisimova was the player who made more mistakes and so her more experienced opponent won the set 6-2.

Halep stepped up her game massively in the second set as she hit only one unforced error and 9 winners. On the other hand, Anisimova continued to struggle and so after less than an hour of play, the scoreboard was showing 6-2, 5-1.

Then, the American started a great comeback when she broke her opponent back and had three breakpoints at 5-4 0-40. However, 2019 Wimbledon champion showed her experience, won the last 5 points of the match and advanced to the semifinals where she will take on Elena Rybakina.
