Simona Halep returned to the centre court of Wimbledon yesterday and smashed Paula Badosa 6-1 6-2 to move on to the quarterfinals.

The Romanian player is in superb form this Wimbledon, her first since winning the event in 2019. She's a serious contender to win the event and the thrashing of Badosa certainly proved that. Halep also did not drop a single set so far but that will be in danger when she faces Amanda Anisimova in the next round.

It means a lot that I'm back in a quarterfinals after I struggled so much with injuries and self-confidence. I'm really happy with the way I'm playing. I'm really confident. It's a pleasure to be on court.

Halep is the player that won the most return games in this event and she followed up that trend by breaking Badosa five times in their 4th round clash. Since partnering with Mouratoglou, Halep adopted a very aggressive style and it's worked wonders on return.

Actually, I was more nervous yesterday than today. It's very special to be back I missed a lot, to play in Wimbledon. Three years was a lot ... It's always a pleasure to come back and to have the chance to play on Centre Court."
