Bianca Andreescu has high ambitions for the rest of the season wanting to improve her ranking because she doesn't like her current one.
Andreescu is a very motivated individual, but the hunger is yet to translate to consistent success. She has moments when she plays really well, but for the most part, it's been a long ride on the struggle bus. Even so, the Canadian remains ambitious, and she's not afraid to talk about it.
Speaking ahead of the 2023 Canadian Open in Montreal, the Canadian admitted that she's looking forward to the event with the hope of doing great. She wants to finish in the Top 20 on the WTA Tour by the end of the year, and she needs some wins and points if she's going to get it done.
I don’t like seeing that number next to my name, and I know I can be better than that. My goal by the end of the season is to break into the top 20, hopefully the top 10 in the world. That’s the ranking I should have.
I have to take it tournament by tournament and have more matches under my belt to boost my confidence. I need to play more than three matches per event. I’m working hard, and it will pay off.
She recently admitted that she's hoping for any kind of breakthrough because it's been a long time since she's won anything, and it's weighing on her. She came close a couple of times, but her consistency was not there.
In order to win an event, she needs to win four, five, or even more matches, and to do that, she needs to be consistent. She's looking at other players for inspiration while maintaining a belief that she can get it done. After all, she already did it once.
