Venus Williams has been struggling with injuries a lot over the past few months, but it seems that she's finally back to competing on the WTA Tour.

For the 43-year-old, it's the first appearance in Montreal since 2018, when she lost in the third round of the Canadian Open to the eventual champion, Simona Halep, 2-6, 2-6. This time, Williams received a wild card, and she's ready to give it her all.

The past few weeks have been challenging for the American, and in her own words, she was killing it until the grass killed her, as Williams had a nasty slip at Wimbledon. Yet, she's still fighting and giving it her all, and thanks to that, she was able to make it to the WTA 1000 tournament in Canada, also called the National Bank Open, where she'll meet fellow American Madison Keys in the first round.

When starting her pre-tournament press conference at the 2023 Canadian Open in Montreal, the experienced American just couldn't keep smiling, saying that she's happy to be back in Canada, even though it required a lot of work to get back to the tennis court and competing on the WTA Tour.

"I feel like it's been too long. I really thought my uttermost to be here, it took a lot of work, but I'm very happy to be here."

After saying how difficult it was for her to be able to be one of the players in the 2023 Canadian Open draw, one of the reporters asked the seven-time Grand Slam champion to elaborate on what it really took to be able to play and compete.

"Icing five times a day, therapy three times a day, praying, all sorts of interventions, stuff like that. Frankly, I'm tired of being injured, I'm injured all the time. I couldn't believe it happened again."
