The 2023 Canadian Open in Montreal will bring back the WTA 1000 action, with the draw for the tournament already released.

Scheduled to take place from August 7th to 13th, the 2023 Canadian Open in Montreal, commonly referred to as the National Bank Open, holds a special place in the tennis calendar. It is one of the most prestigious tournaments, serving as the premier event leading up to the season's final major.

Before the event, the 2023 Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur announced her withdrawal, and even though the Tunisian will be missed, there will be still many players that will make the tournament very competitive.

The first-seeded Iga Swiatek is certainly one of those players, and the Pole will want to follow up on her Warsaw triumph against either Lin Zhu or a very difficult opponent in former world no. 1 in the WTA Rankings, Karolina Pliskova, as Swiatek, like all eight top seeds, has a bye in the first round.

Aryna Sabalenka will want to set up another meeting with the 22-year-old Pole, and the only chance to do that for the second seed is to reach the final. In the second round of the tournament, the Belarusian, who won most of all women in prize money this year, will start against either a qualifier or Petra Martic.

Another player to keep an eye on is the third-seeded Elena Rybakina, who recently revealed that she started with tennis after being too tall for gymnastics. In the second round of the 2023 Canadian Open in Toronto, the Kazakhstani player will play against the winner of the match between Jelena Ostapenko and Jennifer Brady.

One of the most interesting names in the draw is certainly Caroline Wozniacki, as the Dane is making a comeback to the WTA Tour, with the tournament in Montreal being her first back. In the first round, she will play against one of the qualifiers.

Also, a seven-time singles Grand Slam champion, Venus Williams, will also take part at the event after receiving a wild card. In the first round, the American will play against the 13th-seeded Madison Keys. To see the full 2023 Canadian Open Montreal draw, be sure to check it out below.
