John Isner had a heart-breaking loss in the 2023 Dallas Open, when he had four championship points, but couldn't use them.

Despite his best efforts, he couldn't manage to secure the win, losing to Yibing Wu in three sets, 7-6(4), 6-7(3), 6-7(12). Despite the defeat, Isner put on a remarkable show, coming very close to breaking the world record for the most aces hit in a best-of-three tennis match.

In the match, Isner hit an impressive 44 aces, tying for the second place on the all-time list. He dominated the first set, hitting 17 aces, but couldn't maintain his form in the following sets, only managing 12 aces in the third. However, his efforts were not in vain as he impressed the spectators and the tennis world with his exceptional serving skills.

The current world record for the most aces hit in a best-of-three-sets match is held by Croatia's Ivo Karlovic, who hit 45 aces during a match against Tomas Berdych in the quarter-final of the Gerry Weber Open in Germany in 2015.

Isner's efforts in the Dallas Open final are a reminder of the skill and competitiveness that exists in the sport. Despite the loss, he should be proud of his performance and the impact he has made on the tennis world.

John Isner's close call at breaking the world record for the most aces hit in a best-of-three tennis match during the Dallas Open final was a remarkable feat, but despite failing to reach it, the tall American already has one world record, as no one has ever hit more aces than he did.
