Carlos Alcaraz is still undefeated in 2023 and he will play yet another ATP final this week.
Last week, the 19-year-old returned to tennis after missing out on the start of the 2023 season. Alcaraz won in Buenos Aires and immediately moved to Brazil for the 2023 Rio Open. Once again, he was impressive from start to finish to reach yet another final.
In the first round, the Spaniard had to play a rain-delayed match and a very inspired Fabio Fognini awaited him in the second. Then, Alcaraz defeated also Dusan Lajovic to meet Nicolas Jarry in the semifinals.
The Chilean was having a very good week, coming all the way from the qualifying and not dropping any set along the way. And that's exactly how he started also against the Spaniard.
He got an early break in the first set and led 5-2. Alcaraz managed to break back, but Jarry was still too strong in the first set and won it in a tie-break 7-2.
World no. 139 had four chances to break the 2022 US Open champion also in the second set, but he couldn't use his chances, and when he levelled the score at 5-5, little did he know that it would be his last won game in the match.
Alcaraz would then go on to win eight consecutive points to win the second set 7-5 and continue his dominance also in the third set. The Spaniard seemed to be unstoppable, winning the set 6-0 and reaching yet another ATP final.
Once again, he will be taking on Cameron Norrie, who he defeated just last year in Buenos Aires and the Brit will be certainly looking for a revenge.
