The 2023 Rio Open is one of the most popular clay-court events in the first quarter of the season, and it will be held from February 20th to 26th at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Last year, teenager Carlos Alcaraz lifted the trophy at this ATP 500 event in South America and he's on the entry list also for the 2023 event as well, ready to defend his title in Rio de Janeiro.

In 2022, the young Spaniard bested Diego Schwartzman in the final of the tournament, 6-4, 6-2, after previously dominating in the most of his matches at the event.

The 2023 Rio Open is the first ATP 500 clay-court tournament of the season, so it makes points and prize money distributed at the event very interesting for players who can play their best tennis on the red dirt.

Overall, $2,013,940 will be distributed to players at the 2023 Rio Open, and $376,620 of that will go to the champion. The winner will also get 500 valuable points for the ATP Rankings and, of course, the champion's trophy.

But not only the champion will be rewarded well in Rio de Janeiro. The defeated finalist will get a solid 300 points but also a very nice prize of $202,640. The two defeated semi-finalists will get 180 points each as well as $108,000. Last year, these were Francisco Cerundolo and Fabio Fognini.

For quarter-finalists, the reward is $55,170 and 90 ATP ranking points. In 2022, the four players who ended their journey already in the quarter-finals were the top-seeded Matteo Berrettini, Federico Coria, Pablo Andujar, and Miomir Kecmanovic.

The players who lose in the second round get 45 points and $29,455. Those who lose in the first round won't receive any points, but they will get $15,710 for their efforts.
