Novak Djokovic has lofty expectations for the 2023 season because he'll be able to play far more than he was able to play this year.

For Djokovic, having high expectations has always been a given. He became one of the greatest tennis players in history because of his hunger for victory and achievement. It's as strong as ever before the 2023 season.

"When it comes to goals and ambitions, they are always the highest for me," said Djokovic. Despite that, Djokovic is more modest in naming his goals understanding that he's quite fortunate to be able to do what he does at this stage of his career:

"At this stage of my career, I have to be less humble and modest when I talk about goals. Throughout my career I was very fortunate to win the biggest trophies in our sport, so I feel that winning Torino and winning the best tournaments in the world that I still allow myself to dream big."

Pressed to name them, Djokovic admitted it's mostly about the grand slams: "The big goals are the Grand Slam events and the Masters 1000 events when I get a chance to play. Also playing for my country awakes some amazing emotions for me."

On a more personal note it's about staying healthy and competing at the highest level possible because that is what will give him the chance to continue doing what he loves most: "The biggest goal is to try and stay healthy and perform at the highest level because I don't see myself playing professional tennis and not being one of the candidates to win a Grand Slam or being one of the top sports in the world."
