Carlos Alcaraz played a very good match to reach the third round of the 2022 US Open after defeating Federico Coria.

In the first round of the tournament, the 19-years-old Spaniard took on Sebastian Baez and after fighting in two sets, his opponent retired. In the second round, Carlos Alcaraz faced another Argentinian, world number 78, Federico Coria.

The third-seeded started the match with a lot of confidence as he managed to break his opponent early in the first set and added one more break to win the set 6-2.

In the second set, the young Spaniard managed to break his opponent three times and after an hour and 16 minutes, he led 2-0 in the match, winning the second set 6-1.

It seemed that everything was going well for Alcaraz in the third set when he led already 4-1. But he got broken back and Coria got his chance to stay in the match.

Yet, the world number 4 used his chance in the twelfth game of the third set and eventually won the match 6-2, 6-1, 7-5 to set up a third-round clash with Jenson Brooksby.
