The 2022 Lyon Open is one of five events played in France, and it will take place from May 15 to 21. It is the final event before the season's second Grand Slam, Roland Garros, and the draw has already been made.

The Lyon Open was held on hard courts from 1987 through 2009, but was resurrected in 2017 as a clay-court tournament. Since then, four champions have emerged in Lyon, the first of whom will compete in the 2022 Lyon Open.

The 2022 Lyon Open draw offers a variety of interesting matchups as the first-seeded Cameron Norrie will start against Francisco Cerundolo or James Duckworth in the second round. The second-seeded Pablo Carreno Busta will kick-off his campaign in Lyon against Federico Coria or Daniel Altmaier.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who will be retiring after the 2022 Roland Garros, will play against Alex Molcan, who is coached by former coach of Novak Djokovic, Marian Vajda. The third-seeded Gael Monfils will most probably start against his fellow compatriot Hugo Gaston or a qualifier.
