The 2022 Lyon Open is one of five events contested in France, and it will take place from May 15th to May 21st.

The Lyon Open is the final tournament before the season's second Grand Slam, Roland Garros, and offers nice prize money and ATP points to players, who choose to fine-tune their game one week prior to a major.

The tournament was held on a hard court from 1987 until 2009, however it was resurrected in 2017 as a clay-court tournament. Since then, four winners have been crowned in Lyon, the first of whom, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, will compete in the 2022 Lyon Open and fight for his share of the prize money.

In 2021, Stefanos Tsitsipas won the Lyon Open. However, no player from the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings will compete in 2022, with Cameron Norrie, ranked eleventh, being the highest-ranked player who will compete.

Benoit Paire, Dominic Thiem, and Tsonga, the first clay champion in Lyon, are the other three champions in Lyon. It will be a small farewell for Tsonga in the French city, as it will be his second-to-last tournament before retiring.

Despite the absence of any players from the Top 10, the tournament will feature a number of intriguing names, including Pablo Carreno Busta, Gael Monfils, Alex de Minaur, Karen Khachanov, and Aslan Karatsev.

They will all fight for their share of prize money, which offer €534,555 in total and €81,310 for the champion, who will also earn very valuable 250 ATP ranking points.

The runner-up at the 2022 Lyon Open will go home with 150 ATP points and €47,430, while players, who will lose in the semi-finals of the tournament will get 90 points and €27,885. The prize money distribution starts at €5,730, but for losing in the first round, players won't get any ranking points.
