The 2022 Geneva Open will take place from May 15th to 21st at the Tennis Club de Genève at the Parc des Eaux-Vives, Switzerland's oldest and largest tennis club, with over €500,000 in prize money offered.
Players like Stan Wawrinka and Alexander Zverev have won this event in the past. Last year, Roger Federer competed in the Geneva Open but he was defeated by young Norwegian Casper Ruud, who took home the top prize.
Ruud will defend his championship in the Swiss city this year, and he is the biggest favorite to take the biggest cut from the prize money once again. Overall, €534,555 will be distributed to players, with the winner taking home €81,310 and 250 ATP ranking points.
Dominic Thiem, who is attempting to reclaim his peak form, will be one of the most exciting players to watch at the 2022 Geneva Open. Denis Shapovalov, Reilly Opelka, and Roberto Bautista Agut are among the many players who have entered this ATP 250 event.
Because the clay-court season attracts players who specialize on this surface, Albert Ramos-Vinolas, Federico Delbonis, and Fabio Fognini will also play in Geneva, fighting for their share of prize money and points.
For losing in the first round, players don't get any points but they receive €5,730, while those that make it to the second round will get €9,380 and 20 ranking points. All quarter-finalists will be awarded with 45 points and 16,160€.
Those that make it to the last four will each get 90 ATP points and €27,885 and the runner-up at the 2022 Geneva Open will go home with 150 points, €47,430, and a runner-up trophy.
