In the second half of the season, from July 18 to July 24, one of the ATP 500 clay-court tournaments, the Hamburg Open, will be held.
The most recent winners of the Hamburg Open are Pablo Carreno Busta, Andrey Rublev, and Nikoloz Basilashvili, and they all want to win another title this year. However, they will have to overcome Carlos Alcaraz, a rising star from Spain who is the top seed in the competition.
Carlos Alcaraz is the first-seeded in Hamburg and he will face a difficult test in the first round, taking on the home wild-card Nicola Kuhn. Andrey Rublev, who is no. 2, will play against Alexander Bublik who will need to hurry to prepare for clay-courts in time as he plays semifinals of a grass-court tournament in Newport.
Nikoloz Basilashvili and Aslan Karatsev who were recently accused of match-fixing will meet in a highly-entertaining first round match. The third-seeded Diego Schwartzman will try to restore his clay-court form as he will start against Emil Ruusuvuori.
