Carlos Alcaraz won his maiden trophy in Umag last year but since then he added a few, most of which came on clay.

The Spaniard mesmerized the world of tennis on the slowest surface winning a couple of trophies this year including the Rio Open, the Barcelona Open and the Madrid Masters. He didn't only dazzle the world on clay as he played some strong events on hard courts as well but this event will be the first he will play on clay in a while.

Alcaraz grew up on the surface and like most Spanish players, plays rather strong clay tennis. It's very attacking and his speed and quickness around the court create some magical moments that leave fans shocked. It will be the first time Alcaraz plays in Hamburg but he has a chance to continue a strong Spanish winning streak that was started by Carreno Busta last year.

He will be the top seed at the event with a clear ambition to win the ATP 500 event but he'll have competition from Andrey Rublev who won the event two years ago. The Russian has been a master of the ATP 500 circuit so Alcaraz will need to look out. All in all, it should be a great event, as it usually is, with a very strong chance for Alcaraz to add another trophy to his tally.
