Former world number 1, Venus Williams will make her singles comeback at the WTA 1000 event in Toronto.

Earlier this season, the experienced American played mixed doubles at Wimbledon with Jamie Murray and now, Venus Williams will compete in a singles draw at the 2022 Canada Masters in Toronto.

Williams played her last singles match last year in Chicago and so it's been almost a year since she last appeared in the singles draw. However, her participation doesn't come as a very big surprise as it was previously leaked by tournament organizers.

One of the eagerly awaiting fans enquired of the Toronto tournament's organizers whether Venus Williams will be taking part.

Without any hesitation, they said, "yessss:)" When the delighted fan shared it on Twitter, the tournament organizers promptly apologized and said it had been a mistake. Later, they added:"She will unfortunately not be playing this year, but fingers crossed for an appearance."

Now, it is clear that someone from the social media team revealed the news earlier and eventually, Venus Williams will be making the appearance in Toronto as previously stated.
