Venus Williams is yet to play a singles match in 2022 and fans can't wait to see the legendary American back on courts.

At the 2022 Wimbledon, Venus Williams teamed up with Jamie Murray and they were successful in their first match. Yet, they encountered a disappointing loss in the second round. Now, it seems that Venus Williams might play the WTA 1000 event in Toronto.

When Serena Williams was making her surprising appearance at the 2022 Wimbledon, Venus was keeping the secret for a long time. After her sister's participation was revealed, she said:

"I've been keeping the secret for a long time and I'm just glad it's out. People say I've heard and you say I don't know, you feel like you are lying, lead me out of this."

Now, it appears that there was another secret which might have been revealed earlier than planned. One of the fans that can't wait for Venus' comeback, asked the organizers of the tournament in Toronto if Venus Williams will be playing at the tournament.

They didn't hesitate and answered "yessss:)". The happy fan posted it on Twitter and the tournament quickly took a step back, stating it was a mistake. They later added: "She will unfortunately not be playing this year, but fingers crossed for an appearance."

Currently, Venus Williams is not on the entry list of the event, however, she might still receive a wild-card and in a few weeks, fans will know if it was really just a mistake by the tournament, or if they gave away the surprise too early.
