Swiatek's Current Invincibility Challenges Andreescu To Get Back To Her Best

| by Balasz Virag

Bianca Andreescu was once in Iga Swiatek's shoes, feeling almost invincible on a tennis court, and she's motivated got get back there.

Back in 2019, Andreescu put together some amazing performances with the US Open one shining brightest. She made her way to the final, where she played Serena Williams and beat her to deny her the trophy. It's been a slow burn since then as the Canadian struggled with injuries, poor play, and a mental health break.

It's been a tough time getting back to the top of the WTA Tour, but the Canadian is very motivated to get there as she's still fairly young. Seeing Swiatek dominate inspired Andreescu because she knows what it feels like. Speaking about that, Andreescu told the No Challenges Remaining podcast about feeling invincible.

I do remember that feeling [of being invincible] and I would love to get back there. I know Iga [Swiatek] is there right now. I think she's she won Warsaw today. It's incredible what she's doing and I really want to get to that point.

Anderescu won a couple of big trophies in her career, not as much as Swiatek, but she remembers how it was. It's a good feeling obviously, and it comes from just playing and winning matches, something the Canadian did a lot in 2019.

Yeah [I remember what that winning feeling felt like when I see Iga Swaitek], a hundred percent. It is definitely a good feeling. It just comes with momentum playing matches, you know, being healthy. And that's not really what I have had over the last few years.

I'm hoping to at least play three matches in a row that I win and then have that fourth. That's what happened at Miami and then freaking got injured, just bad luck.

The Canadian Open will be a decent shot for her, as she played fairly well last year. The Cincinnati Masters is another chance as she got a wild card into the event.
