Bianca Andreescu is determined to return to her best, despite the past few years on the WTA Tour being far from ideal for her.

After winning the 2019 US Open and dominating on the tennis court for a certain period of time four years ago, many tipped the young Canadian to have an incredibly successful career and win multiple Grand Slam titles.

However, Andreescu is yet to win any WTA title since then, and she even admitted that she considered quitting tennis altogether. Tennis fans are certainly happy that she didn't, and to realize that she wants to continue, the Canadian also had to take a short mental break.

Now, she's back, and she'll be playing at her home event at the 2023 Canadian Open in Montreal, where she appears on the entry list thanks to a wild card. The tournament is played from August 7th to 13th, and nearly two weeks ahead of it, she spoke to Sportsnet about her mentality and what the previous triumph gave her.

"I always had that in the back of my head. Obviously, I played the sport because I loved it, but I also loved everything that came along with the US Open. Young kids saying I picked up a tennis racquet because of you or just having the influence to be able to create my own charity or speak about certain things like equality."

Andreescu also talked about her mental break, which included an awakening moment that reminded her that she was not done yet. The Canadian is certainly able of achieving much more in the sport, and she has already started her climb up in the WTA Rankings.

"I took a long mental, well, I guess not that long, but six months basically away from the sport. And that was a very low point of my life because I didn't want to continue playing tennis anymore. I felt that tennis was my everything, and I kind of forgot about Bianca Andreescu, the human being."

"And so, during that time, I did everything, but tennis and I didn't look at any results nothing. And there's like an awakening moment where I'm like I'm not done."
