Jessica Pegula dismissed any rumours about ending the doubles partnership with Coco Gauff ahead of the 2023 Canadian Open in Montreal.

Over the years, the tennis world has seen numerous doubles partnerships come and go. Every once in a while, a pairing emerges that truly captivates audiences, both for their chemistry on the court and the camaraderie off it.

Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff have become one such duo, with their seamless coordination and success that secured them a steady spot in the Top 5. However, recent rumors threatened to eclipse their dynamic partnership, leading many to believe that they were parting ways.

Thankfully for fans, Pegula was quick to dismiss such speculations. It's not uncommon in the tennis world for rumors to spread like wildfire, especially with the relentless scrutiny of the digital age. This time, the rumours were fueled by the fact that the two opted to skip the 2023 Citi Open.

One missed tournament or event can trigger countless theories about potential rifts, retirements, or changes in strategy. Such was the case for Pegula and Gauff. Missing a single week of play together led to unwarranted assumptions about the future of their partnership.

However, during a recent press conference, when confronted about the topic, Pegula's reaction was one of genuine surprise. "What do you mean?" she responded, a hint of incredulity evident in her voice. After all, for her, the partnership was going strong. It was more a matter of managing their schedules and ensuring both remained in prime condition throughout the year.

"No, no, we're playing with each other throughout. Yeah, for the rest of the year, I think. It's okay. Someone sent me that headline, and I was, like, that's weird. I don't know where on earth that came from. Just because we literally didn't play one week together, everybody was, like, You're not playing?"

"I was, like, Relax. Everyone gives us crap for playing too much, and then we didn't play D.C., and we were getting so many questions. No, we're still playing, yeah. We're playing US Open, here, Cincinnati I think as long as everything is going fine and, yeah, healthy."

Gauff also confirmed during her press conference that the two are going to play the doubles together, especially, because the two won the Canadian Open last year, which secured the teenager the world no. 1 spot in the doubles rankings.

"I am playing doubles this week with Jess. I wanted to still play in this tournament. Also Jess and I won this last year, even though it was in Toronto. I just felt like I wanted to come and play and see how I can do."
