From September 19th until 25th, some of the best players from the WTA Tour will meet at the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo.
The WTA 500 event in the capital of Japan was absent from the WTA Tour since 2018 when Karolina Pliskova defeated Naomi Osaka in the final. However, four years later, the Japan Open returns to Tokyo also with the home start Naomi Osaka who is present on the entry list.
The Japanese player never triumphed at the event before as the list of former champions includes Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, Maria Sharapova and many more. This year, Paula Badosa and Aryna Sabalenka lead the entries at the event.
Garbine Muguruza, Daria Kasatkina and Beatriz Haddad Maia will also compete at the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo and former Australian Open champion, Sofia Kenin also joined the event using the protected ranking.
