Jimmy Connors spoke out in favour of Carlos Alcaraz after many raised eyebrows over his schedule during his comeback.

Alcaraz played in Buenos Aires last week and won the trophy. He opted to keep playing this week in Rio despite some suggesting that a week off might have been better after he missed four months with an injury. Preparing his body for a heavy workload seems like a better thing than just rushing into things.

Eyebrows were even more raised once it came out that he plans on playing for a 3rd consecutive week in Acapulco. According to Connors, he should just ignore that.

Why should he (Carlos Alcaraz) even give a sh*t about what anybody thinks or says? It's his career, his body, his confidence to come back and get back to where he was before the injuries.

Connors on Alcaraz

Connors is of the opinion that Alcaraz knows what's he's doing. He knows his body, he knows what he can do so he shouldn't pay attention to people who don't know anything about him.

Why should he really care about what anybody thinks or says? It's all about what's good for him to get back to where he wants to be to play in these big events coming up. He's doing what's best for him to get that confidence going into..with Wimbledon, the French (Open), the (Masters) 1000s...So what difference does it make what anybody else says? Go do your own thing and be happy and satisfied with that.
