Usually, players that qualify for the ATP Finals also lead in many different statistics as they were the most successful players of the season.
While that is also the case in 2022, it's not true for every stat. Winning is important in every sport but in tennis, winning at the right moment counts even more. ATP events are divided into many different categories and so sometimes it can happen that three victories at a lower-tier event may be equal to one win at a larger event.
Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Taylor Fritz will all compete at the 2022 ATP Finals and they were quite successful in terms of winning percentage this year.
They are all ranked in Top 15 of the most successful players in 2022 according to this stat, with Carlos Alcaraz, who withdrew from the event, being also one of them. But who are the remaining six players that were also very successful but won't play at the 2022 ATP Finals?
Usually, players that have a high winning percentage and don't make it to Top 8 are those that were troubled by injuries and didn't play enough matches to qualify. That would be the case for 7th Alexander Zverev, 8th Jannik Sinner, 10th Matteo Berrettini and 15th Gael Monfils.

Cameron Norrie, 11th most-successful player in terms of the winning percentage is one of those that recorded 5 wins in the All England Club but got no points and that's reason why he couldn't qualify for the ATP Finals.
And then, there's Nick Kyrgios, who was the fourth most-successful player in terms of the winning percentage. First player behind all three Grand Slam champions of 2022.
But how come he didn't qualify? For him it was a combination of these two factors. The 27-years-old Australian struggled with injuries and also skipped some events as he wanted to spend time with his family.
Moreover, his most successful event was Wimbledon, where no points were awarded and that's why 78,7% of victories weren't enough for Nick Kyrgios to qualify for the 2022 ATP Finals in singles.
