Jo-Wilfriend Tsonga retired at Roland Garros earlier this year and he found it really hard in the first few months.

Tennis has been Tsonga's passion since he was a little kid, so quitting his favourite sport was quite difficult. Many tennis players have experienced it over the years, and Tsonga found it difficult to have all this free time that was usually dedicated to tennis.

"Tennis took up 100% of my time," explained Tsonga to highlight how much of a player's life revolves around the sport.

"All of my time was dedicated to that and suddenly it's empty. There's nothing left, there's no longer the atmosphere, the hot stadiums. It's true that it was a bit hard the first 2 months, but now it's fine."

He has now plenty of time for friends and family and a chance to enjoy life outside of tennis. It remains to be see whether he might return to the sport in the capacity of an analyst or perhaps as a coach.
