Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev both competed at the Laver Cup in 2021 but this year, none of them were selected by Bjorn Borg for Team Europe.

Last year, Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev played crucial part of Team Europe. The team captained by Bjorn Borg collected a total of 14 points out of which 8 were collected by Russian players.

First, they both won in singles and later Rublev teamed up with Stefanos Tsitsipas and then with Alexander Zverev to complete to successful doubles matches. However, this year, the Russian players were not invited to the 2022 Laver Cup.

Wimbledon was the only Grand Slam tournament of the season that banned Russian and Belarusian players and it has one thing in common with the 2022 Laver Cup - it's held in the Great Britain.

This year's event was played at the O2 Arena in London and during a recent interview, Rublev hinted why he and his compatriot were probably left out from the team, as he said:

“I don't. I know that Dana (Medvedev) - yes. But the British government is there, and they hinted that it probably won’t work," Rublev was quoted as saying by Championat.
