Reilly Opelka doesn't think doubles tennis appeals to many eyeballs as the American revealed he would axe that side of tennis completely if he were in charge.

Reilly Opelka made a name for himself on social media with plenty of hot takes that created quite a bit of reaction across the spectrum of opinions. His latest one will certainly create quite a bit off controversy as well as he completely destroyed doubles tennis.

According to the American, doubles tennis simply lacks interest from tennis fans to have a justifiable reason to keep going. If he were in charge, he'd axe it completely. It's an interesting take from a player who both played and won doubles trophies in his career.

"Get rid of doubles, only time people watch are when its singles players or the bry bros."

Opelka on changes he would do to ATP tennis

The question was posed to him as part of a Q and A session he did on Instagram asking what one change would he make to the ATP Tour. It's certainly not the only change he would do but it's a bit of a controversial statement.

Since more than a century ago, doubles has been played alongside singles and is a crucial component of tennis. It adds a special and thrilling facet to the game where players must cooperate to carry out strategies and display their reflexes, teamwork, and shooting prowess.

Currently, the tall American is out with an injury and t's not clear when he'll actually return to tennis but he always finds a way to stay in the tennis news.
