The US will contest the United Cup final against Italy, and Taylor Fritz is not surprised by that, believing they were favored to win all along.

He is correct because the US has the strongest team on paper thanks to its four top-20 quality players. The strongest roster from the beginning has been Fritz, Tiafoe, Pegula, and Keys, and they are expected to win tomorrow as well.

“It was great to get the win today to get us through,” said Fritz after beating Hurkacz to seal the victory.

“I’ve played with Team USA a lot but I think it’s a huge advantage this time having the girls in our team because it just makes the whole team so much stronger. So I’m super excited going into the finals and I think we’ve been favourites all week," added the American.

A crucial part of the success was Jessica Pegula who delivered an amazing performance ot beat Iga Swiatek earning a crucial point. “I was very stressed. I was doing the stress thing with the ball and my hands were like freaking out,” said Pegula.

She added:

“It was awesome for Taylor to clinch that in a really, really tight match against a great player. Kudos to him. That definitely took the pressure off the rest of us for the rest of the day.”
