Reilly Opelka hasn't played a single match since August last year, and he's still not ready to return to the ATP Tour.

The 25-year-old has been struggling with an injury for months now, and after withdrawing from the Australian Open at the start of the season, he pulled out also from the 2023 Dallas Open, which was supposed to be his comeback event.

The tall American was playing some of his best tennis in 2022, winning two titles and showing his qualities, not just on his serve. His very good friend, Taylor Fritz, participates at the event in Dallas and he spoke about Opelka's injury, saying:

"It's awful. He started last year really strong. He was playing really good tennis. It sucks. It could happen to any of us at any time. You never know when you can be out for 8 months."

"It's really sad to see. He's one of my best friends. I look forward to seeing him. Haven't gotten to spend a ton of time with him because he hasn't been at tournaments.''
