Taylor Fritz is having the best season of his career and the results prove it as he's set to play yet another ATP final.
Before the start of this season, the tall American lifted only one ATP title. This year, he triumphed already in Indian Wells and Eastbourne and at the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo, he can add yet another title to his collection. However, he will be facing a difficult obstacle as his compatriot, Frances Tiafoe is waiting in the final.
This year, Taylor Fritz won 40 out of 57 matches he played and collected a total of 2685 points. That grants him a spot in Top 10 of the upcoming edition of the ATP Rankings on Monday as he will jump Hubert Hurkacz who lost in the quarterfinals in Astana.
Moreover, Fritz can become world number eight if he beats Tiafoe in the final and get into pole position for the remaining eighth spot in the 2022 ATP Finals.
"It's pretty amazing what I've been able to accomplish this week," said Fritz. "Just from thinking that I might not even be able to play this tournament to then seven days in a room, wake up at 5 a.m., take a flight here and just show up and play... It's pretty crazy how quick things happen. It was only four days ago."
"Honestly, physically I've felt fine all week," Fritz said after reaching the final. "I think the biggest struggle for me this week has been the court speed. I felt like that made a really big difference with my confidence and my feel hitting the ball."
