Matteo Berrettini played another sturdy match on grass to secure the Stuttgart final over Oscar Otte 7-6 7-6(5).

The Italian player is playing his first event back from wrist surgery that left him out for several months. Missing all that time did not mean much to Berrettini as he quickly found his game on the grass. It's not a coincidence as he's always been a fairly strong grass player thanks to his serve. The motto of this match was the supremacy of the serve.

We only saw one break point in the entire first set that lasted almost an hour. Berrettini had it at 4-4 but Otte was able to save it. We went into the tiebreak and it was a fairly close one with Matteo securing it 9-7. Both of them dominated on their serves with both hitting 10+ aces as well. In the end, it was Matteo who proved more composed when it mattered the most.

The 2nd set opened in a fairly similar manner with both players dominating on their serve. There was simply not much either could do against the fairly strong serving on both. The court being in less than ideal conditions didn't help either. Berrettini was still a tiny bit more dominant on his serve which was the case in the first set tiebreak as well.

The 2nd set finished in another tiebreak with Berrettini once again proving only slightly better. That's all you need in a tiebreak really because one point could make all the difference. In the end, it did, in both sets and Matteo moves to the final.
