The 2024 US Open is the last Grand Slam tournament of the season, and the men's singles draw once again promises great action in New York.
Running from August 26th to September 8th, the New York Slam, as it's often nicknamed, will see the World No. 2 player, Novak Djokovic, attempt to defend his last year's title at the tournament.
The Serbian won a record-equalling 24th major at Flushing Meadows last year, and he could extend that number to 25 this year, yet. He will try to do that at the place of his last triumph, and he will start against a qualifier in the first round of the tournament.
On the opposite side of the draw is the World No. 1, Jannik Sinner, who will want to focus on his tennis in New York, but that may be a bit difficult. Recently, the news about Sinner testing positive for a prohibited substance twice broke out, and the Italian will very likely face plenty of questions about that.
He will likely want to explain the whole situation as soon as possible and focus on his tennis, as the top seed will play against Mackenzie McDonald in the first round of the season's last major tournament.
As the third seed at Flushing Meadows, Carlos Alcaraz knew that he won't be able to avoid both Sinner and Djokovic before the final, and he certainly closely followed who he might need to play in the semi-finals of the event.
The Spaniard landed in Sinner's part of the draw, which would certainly make up for an exciting semi-final. In the first round of the tournament, the 21-year-old will meet a qualifier.
Daniil Medvedev has won his only career Grand Slam in New York, and he will try to replicate that this year, but given the form of some of his rivals, it may be challenging. The Russian player will play against Dusan Lajovic in the first round of the tournament.
The fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev will be among the favorites as well, and he will certainly want to prove it with a first-round statement win against Emil Ruusuvuori.
The sixth-seeded Andrey Rublev may be also one of the names to watch in New York, as he managed to play some impressive tennis in recent weeks. The Russian player will play against Thiago Seyboth Wild in the first round of the tournament.
Some of the most exciting first-round matchups include the meeting between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jakub Mensik, as well as the match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Thanasi Kokkinakis. The full men's singles draw for the 2024 US Open can be seen below.
