The best players on the WTA Tour are already at Flushing Meadows, reading for the 2024 US Open as the draw for the tournament was released.
Last year, New York celebrated the triumph of their home player. Coco Gauff bested everyone at the 2023 US Open to win her first major title, but back then, she entered the tournament as one of the top favorites, given her incredible form during the North American hard-court swing.
This year, the situation is a little different, as she lost three of her last four matches, but Gauff will still enter the tournament as one of the top favorites. The 2024 US Open will run from August 26th to September 8th, and the draw didn't disappoint once again.
The defending champion, who lost her World No. 2 rank recently, is the third seed at the tournament, and she will test herself against Varvara Gracheva in the first round of the tournament.
The top seed is Iga Swiatek, who didn't play a lot on the hard courts after the Paris Olympics, but as the 2022 champion of the New York major and dominant World No. 1, she will be among the top favorites, starting her tournament against a qualifier.
Maybe the biggest favorite is the second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian player played in the final last year, and even won a set, but ultimately, she lost in three sets.
This year, she is coming into the tournament after winning the Cincinnati Open, and she will certainly want to swiftly dispatch her opponents, as she so often does, starting against a qualifier in the first round.
Despite not playing a lot recently, the fourth-seeded Elena Rybakina will be among the top favorites again. In the first round of the last major of the season, she will start against a qualifier.
There are plenty of players who can do well and more former champions. The 2021 winner, Emma Raducanu, is among them, and even though she hasn't played a lot recently, she will be among the dark horses. The British player will play against a fellow former major winner, Sofia Kenin, in her opening match.
Four-time major winner, Naomi Osaka, is also among the players that could go deep, and she will start against Jelena Ostapenko in the first round.
The women's draw once again delivered many great first-round matchups, as Amanda Anisimova will play against Qinwen Zheng, and Bianca Andreescu will clash with Jasmine Paolini. The full women's singles draw for the 2024 US Open can be seen below.
